Minna – Communities in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger state has raised the alarm over the invasion of the area by armed men numbering about forty who attacked their victims and kidnapped women and children.

The suspected kidnappers, armed with dangerous weapons, were said to have operated freely and unhindered for days due to total absence of police or any security authority to protect the people in the area from such attacks.

Our correspondent learnt that the armed men currently laying siege to; Muye, Egba and Gupa-Abugi wards in Lapai local government area also kidnapped a married woman, Zainab Mundi Emirokukpa and a little boy, Abdulrashid Attahiru Chepa at Lambata near Cheku.

Another young boy simply identified as, Awwal Danladi Dagbaje (17yrs) old, Daily Independent learnt was also attacked while traveling to the neighbouring village, in the outskirt of Dagbaje leaving him with serious injuries.

On Sunday night at about 8 pm, some persons were attacked at Lambata village and one Amodu, a trader who runs a provision store in the area narrowly escaped being kidnapped but lost his mobile phone and other valuables from his shop to the kidnapped.

Amodu were said to have been contacted and notified about their visit by the criminals few days earlier to be expecting them, he was expected to make available the sum of N1.5 million or be ready to be killed if he fails to make the money available to them.

Investigations also revealed that the families of two other victims of the attack have been running from pillar to pole trying to raise money to pay the bandits who are now demanding for N700, 000 ransom to avoid further attacks.
