Abuja – The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as ‘Shiites’ has denied allegations by the Department of State Service (DSS) that the leadership of the group has concluded arrangement to carry out massive violent protest with Islamic State West Africa Province  (ISWAP) across the country.

Addressing  journalists  on Monday in Abuja during a rally  by the group, the Secretary of the Academic Forum of the movement, Abdullahi Musa said that the allegation is unfounded and aimed to malign the sect with the view to painting  it in bad light.

He said that it is not in the culture of the movement to carry ammunitions and there is no way they would be planning a violent attack in collaboration with terrorist groups.

He said that the movement managed to get a copy of the memo dated January 1, 2019 from the DSS and tittled ‘Planned Massive Violent Protests By The Islamic Movement In Nigeria  (IMN) and addressed  to  the head of operations of all security agencies in the country .

A  copy  of the letter which was also made available to  Daily Independent was copied to; Chief of Defence Staff; Chief of Army Staff; Chief of Naval Staff; Chief of Air Staff and Inspector General of Police.

Others are; Chief of Defence Intelligence; National Security Adviser and Chief of Staff to the President.

According to the letter “Intelligence available to this service revealed plans by the leadership of IMN to mobilise its membership in large numbers for a massive protest and other hostile activities, including the use of explosives and fire arms in the the days ahead. It was gathered that the group intends to besiege some major northern cities and towns in Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto and the Federal Capital Territory  (FCT) for the planned attack.

“The planned attack is to be carried out in league with members of the Islamic State West Africa Province  (ISWAP), some opposition elements and a section of human rights movement, with a view to providing massive violence and attracting the attention of the International Community ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“Given the foregoing, there is need to initiate pertinent measures to pre-empt and frustrate the latest plot by the subversive group. Whilst this is forwarded for your information and further necessary action, please accept assurances of the esteemed regards of the DG,” the letter read.

He noted  that there is no iota of truth in the content of the letter adding that is just a mere fabrication to justify the killing of members of the movement.

“They are just trying to look for excuses to justify the killings of innocent citizens and that is why they are doing all this thing. So the problem of Nigeria, the issue of insecurity. There is no insecurity in this country, there is nothing like Boko Haram, President Buhari is the Chief Boko Haram, including the DSS. Whoever wrote this letter is the master of Boko Haram.”

He said that the security operatives are always using insecurity as an excuse to embezzle the resources of the country.

He stressed that the government is using insecurity as an excuse to cause violence because they know that they cannot win elections.

“People should know that this is what President Muhammadu  Buhari is planning , is either they cannot win the election or they wanted to cause violence in Nigeria. One of these is going to happen. Because they have nothing offer and that is why the President is avoiding Presidential debate because he has nothing to tell the citizens. Is it extra judicial killing of innocent citizens ? He queried.

Musa explained that  the movement does not have any business with whether the election will hold or not noting that their demand is that Ibrahim El-Zakzaky should be released.
