An oil monitoring group, the Niger Delta Indigenous Movement For Radical Change (NDIMRC) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the minister of state for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Emmanuel Kachikwu over ongoing reforms in the oil industry and ongoing consultations over pipeline protection in the region, declaring that the people of the region are ready to protect them against the rising cases of attacks from cartel engaged in pipeline vandalism in the region.
According to the NDIMRC, though the federal government is yet to award jobs on pipeline security in the Niger Delta, the decision to offer security to Kachikwu and the president is due to the noticeable false claims in some national dailies (not LEADERSHIP) against the efforts of the present administration and the person of the minister.
The group, in the statement signed by its president, Nelly Emma, secretary, John Sailor and public relations officer (PRO), Stanley Mukoro, dismissed the claims as “deliberate blackmail” and insisted that the minister is working with relevant stakeholders in the Niger Delta region to end vandalisation of oil pipeline.
The statement reads in part: “The government will soon deploy modern technology to bury pipelines out of the reach of vandals. We are surprised that some stakeholders in the oil and gas industry are at it again, they have refused to see anything good in the petroleum minister.
