Okowa hails Warri, Gbaramatu monarchs on birthday, coronation anniversary

DELTA State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has paid glowing tributes to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli I and the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, in Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state, as the former turned 62 on the throne, while the latter celebrated his 1st coronation anniversary.

ASABA—DELTA State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has paid glowing tributes to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli I and the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, in Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state, as the former turned 62 on the throne, while the latter celebrated his 1st coronation anniversary.

Okowa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, noted that Itsekiri nation has remained peaceful and investor-friendly since His Majesty ascended the ancient throne of his forefathers.

He said that Ogiame Ikenwoli’s reign has immensely benefited the people of Warri Kingdom, Delta State and indeed the nation, adding: “Of remarkable note is your royal carriage which is visible in the exemplary manner you have discharged your duties and have remained a source of pride and splendour to the traditional institution.

“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I felicitate with Ogiame Ikenwoli I, the Olu of Warri, on the occasion of your 62nd birthday.

“Since your ascension to the throne of your forefathers, Ogiame you have demonstrated exemplary leadership by living above board, while remaining as the rallying point and inspiration for your subjects.”

Governor Okowa stressed that as a custodian of culture and tradition, the Olu has played significant roles in the promotion of harmony, socio-cultural cooperation, communal living and peaceful co-existence among the Iwere Kingdom and its neighbours.

On the coronation anniversary of Gbaramatu monarch, he said that the one-year reign of the Pere  has been “peaceful, beneficial to the kingdom and humanity in general.”
