The Department of State Security (DSS) has sent some of its men to the headquarters of the National Pension Commission (PenCom) as part of a standby team, following alleged plans by some staff of the commission to tamper with documents containing sensitive information.
A source in the DSS who confirmed the development to LEADERSHIP Sunday yesterday, said the DSS did not conduct a raid on the property but was on standby to prevent anybody from tampering or altering any document unlawfully or without due process.
According to the source, the secret police got information that some documents were being tampered with while some were being signed and back dated at the PenCom office following the announcement of a new management of the commission.
The source said the DSS’ action was to prevent all officials there from carrying out any action on official documents.
“We did not conduct any raid on PenCom office. What we did was to put a standby team at the office to prevent anybody from tampering or altering any document unlawfully or without due process.
“We had an intelligence information that some documents are being tampered with, some documents are being signed and back dated at the PenCom office following the announcement of a new management of the commission and we are only being pro-active by ordering all officials there to stop forthwith any action on official documents pending when the new management  will assume duty.”
