The Police have paraded a suspected Codeine manufacturer alongside suspected armed robbers and other criminals arrested in various raids across Bauchi state.

The suspects were paraded at the state police command with various exhibits recovered during the operations.

Briefing journalists during the parade, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar, said the operations were part of the command’s determination under the leadership of the state’s Commissioner of Police, Habu Sani Ahmadu, to rid Bauchi state of crimes and criminality.

He disclosed that following intelligence reports, a black spot was raided at Gwallameji area on June 13th,2019 which led to the arrest of two suspected fake Codeine manufacturers, Emmanuel Patrick and Victor Oguwu all of Yelwa area of Bauchi.

According to him, 71 bottles of locally produced Codeine, 30 bottles of Tutolin, one carton of ORS used for Codeine production, one pot of blended Codeine awaiting refilling,100 empty scavenged bottles, 60 bottles top cover and 120 product name tags were recovered from the suspects.

He noted that the suspects are being investigated adding that they will soon be charged to court.

He added that the command’s Tactical Team of Operation Puff Adder arrested two suspects, Yusuf Summer of Bogoro town and Sunday Peter of Tafawa Balewa town in connection with theft of motorcycle.

“During interrogation, the suspects voluntarily confessed to have stolen the motorcycle in Bogoro town, Bauchi state and sold it to one Alhaji Isah ‘M’ 79yrs old of Bakin Kura area Bauchi.

“The said Alhaji Isa was also traced and arrested while the stolen motorcycle was equally recovered. The case is under investigation after which the suspects will be charged to court,” he noted.

The Police spokesperson further disclosed that following a report at GRA Police Division by one Mohammed Najib of Makwalla, Bauchi who reported that a gang of seven suspected armed robbers robbed him of his motorcycle valued at N190,000.

He said discreet investigation by the Operation Puff Adder team also led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Salisu Ibrahim, a.k.a. Lonja and recovered one cutlass suspected to have been used in the robbery.

He further noted that 46 suspected Sara-Suka thugs were also arrested by the police after raids on various hideouts by the command leading to the recovery of 11 cutlasses, one knife, 31 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemps and 170 assorted illicit drugs from the suspects.

According to the police, 33 of the suspects were charged to court while 13 are still in police custody undergoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested five suspects who stole cows allegedly belonging to one Alhaji Yusuf of Dass LGA.

DSP Abubakar said on receipt of the information, the police team swung into action and arrested five suspects in possession of the stolen cows.

According to the police, two drivers and three receivers of the stolen cows were arrested with a Van carrying 24 cows.

“So far, four (4) of the cows were identified and released to the complainant, Alhaji Yusuf, six (6) cows  were identified by one  Mohammed Sani of Pali, Alkaleri LGA and were equally released to him with  affidavit from court and guarantors, while the remaining fourteen (14) are in police custody,” the police spokesman disclosed.

The police had also arrested a suspected cattle rustler, Manu Adamu, following a report by one Yusuf Abdullahi of Wuro Magaji of Liman Katagum, Bauchi LGA.

Abdullahi was said to have reported that while working on his farm at Tashan Jarka village, he saw the suspect, Manu Adamu of Marraba Liman Katagum and two others yet to be identified loading two cows suspected to be stolen in a Peugeot saloon car with Reg No. AE 924 GWA and chassis No. VF35004G1106128612.

He later accosted them and two of the suspects ran away leaving Manu Adamu who injured him using machete and was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital for medical treatment as a result of which he lost his leg.

He noted that the police team attached to Operation Puff Adder swung in to action and arrested Manu Adamu while the two others are still at large.

“The team recovered two cows, one machete and a vehicle as exhibits.

“Also, a suspected stolen Volkswagen Jetta vehicle with Reg. No. MB 830 ADC was also recovered by the patrol team of Operation Puff Adder attached to Dass Division,” he said.

According to the police, the team while on routine patrol intercepted the vehicle just as the occupants took to their heels on sighting the police team and left the vehicle by the road side with one Dahiru Yunusa ‘M’, 35 years of Bundot ward of Dass LGA lying unconscious in the front seat of the vehicle.

“The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment and later regained consciousness. He revealed that on the same date at about 1940hrs while he was riding his motorcycle, the occupants of the vehicle invited him to assist them in fixing the vehicle and he was asked to sit in the front seat were they sprayed some powder on his face and became he became unconscious,” the police disclosed.

The police spokesperson said the cases are under investigation, saying all suspects arrested would be charged to court for prosecution.
