Suspected gunmen kidnap former Bauchi lawmaker, Ningi
A former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abdulmumuni Ningi, was on Thursday night kidnapped by some unknown gunmen in Bauchi metropolis.
The ex-lawmaker, who represented Ningi State Constituency in the last Assembly, was said to have been abducted by four gun-wielding men who trailed him from the town to his house around the BSADP area at Isa Yuguda Guest House.
DAILY POST learnt that the gunmen abducted Ningi at about 8pm and went away with him in their car, which they used to trail him to his house, where he was kidnapped.
The kidnapping of the former lawmaker was confirmed to DAILY POST on the telephone on Friday morning by the Bauchi State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Mohammed Wakil.
Wakil, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), informed that the abductors of the former lawmaker had yet to make any contact with Ningi’s family but assured that the police were doing everything possible to secure his release.
“Yes, a former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly who represented Ningi Constituency was kidnapped on Thursday at about 8pm within Bauchi metropolis.
“Information has it that he was trailed by his abductors who were said to be four in number in a gold coloured car from where he was coming to his house around the BSADP area at Isa Yuguda Guest House,” the PPRO said.
Wakil further confirmed that the gunmen abducted the former lawmaker seized and drove him away with in the car they brought for the operation.
He, however, added that, “as of this morning (Friday) that I am talking to you, they have not called yet but our intelligence men are working to get to the root of the situation.”
DSP Wakil advised that the people should not only be security conscious but also vigilant and take note of whichever vehicles and motorcycles that may be behind while driving.
