Gov Makinde reveals how Bandits from Mali infiltrate Oyo State
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has disclosed that bandits from Mali are using the international borders in his state to infiltrate Nigeria.
The Governor, however, explained that some of the bandits have been smoked out from some forests in the state, with the help of the Amotekun outfit.
Makinde disclosed this at the Palace of the Okere of Saki when he held a meeting with Traditional rulers in Oke-Ogun.
Oyo State shares an international border with the Benin Republic along the Saki axis of the state.
Makinde also claimed that the infiltrators try to settle permanently into the state after crossing the border. He, therefore, commended the traditional rulers for giving the Amotekun outfit support.
“For instance, Saki shares an international border and it is more of an international issue because we have bandits all the way from Mali that are trying to cross. Once they gain entrance into anywhere they can operate, they will stay there.
“When we inaugurated Amotekun, you gave us your support. When some bandits went to the bush at Kishi, we were able to flush them out with all the efforts of all of us here.”
