As the Nigerian Army Staff Conference ends in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, youth under the auspices of Benue Youth Network (BYN) has commended the efforts of the Senate Committee Chairman on Army, Senator George Akume in hosting the event in his home state.
The youths also said the just concluded army conference will amongst other things address the menace of Fulani herdsmen across the state.
The youth group stated this on Wednesday in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Terna Adzoor.
According to him, the senator representing Benue North-West Senator Dr George Akume has achieved a landmark advantage as the Chairman Senate Committe on Army for the good people of Benue State.
The statement reads in part, “The just concluded Chief of Army Staff conference Makurdi is all that has broken the camel’s back with high points been the commissioning of a major water treatment plant for the people of North Bank and it’s environs and the establishment of a Brigade command as approved by the military council.
“Lt. Gen. Tukur Barutai the Chief of Army Staff immediately announced a Brigade Commander to head the Command. The Brigade Command will among other things address the menace of irate Fulani insurgency and other communal crisis in around the state.”
