The alarming rate of girl child and women street beggars roaming Maiduguri metropolis have become worrisome to most residents of Borno who see the act as an eyesore.
Some of the residents who spoke to LEADERSHIP opined that it is high time the government controlled the menace as it is capable of destroying the future of those involved.
A resident of Baga road , Alhaji Goni Umar said if the situation continues this way, the future of women and girl child will be at risk as many of them will become unproductive and nuisance to the society.
He decried what he termed as nonchalant attitude of some parents who use their wards as instruments of making money through open begging.
“ I am ashamed each time I see these women and children jumping on every tricycle or vehicle that comes their way . The manner in they rush to these vehicles to me is a kind of embarrassment to the passengers and it is a sort of ridicule on the state before strangers.
