The battle for supremacy between two rival cults in Calabar, Cross River State capital, which started last week, continued Sunday night and yesterday morning with the killings of four more people.
The Sunday killings occurred at White House, where two people were reportedly shot dead and at Eta Agbo, where a young man was killed.
It was gathered that another person was killed at a university’s premises yesterday morning.
Also one of the twins, who was shot on Saturday night and reportedly escaped with bullet wounds was also reported dead yesterday.
Ms Irene Ugbo, the Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the killings, said the police are on top of the situation with five persons arrested.
She said: “We are aware of the killings and five people have been arrested in connection with the activities of the cultists. Police are on top of the situation and calm has returned to the city.”
