Flood ravages Ondo community, destroys houses, farmlands

The persistent rainfall in some parts of Ondo State has continued to take its toll on some of the communities in the state.

During the weekend, one of the communities affected by the rainfall was Aponmu, an ancient community in Akure South Local Government Area of the State.

The heavy rains of the past few days have flooded the community leading to the partial submerging of some houses and farmlands.

A community leader, Mukaila Ashiru said the ugly situation had caused sorrow in the community as residents had nowhere to relocate after the house they built many decades ago had been submerged.

Ashiru who is the Imam of Aponmu Mosque appealed to the Ondo State Government to come to their aid by embarking on proper channelisation of the area and also access the level of damage with a view to assisting victims.
