The senior special assistant to the Delta state Governor on special Duties (public/ private partnership) Mr Besidone Samuel Eyengho has tackled the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) over alleged exclusion of the Itsekiri nation in the commission’s recent tender for projects to be executed in the region.

Eyengho an indigene of Ugborodo community in warri south west local government area of Delta state said that the Itsekiri people want to know why they were excluded from the tender. According to him,the Iteskiri nation which is one of the highest oil producing area in the country cannot be omitted from the commission’s developmental plans, while noting that the NDDC board should shun ethnic sentiment and develop the entire region.

Eyengho said “the Itsekiri nation demand an explanation from the NDDC board, why they were omitted in the latest tender published by the management of the commission”.

He urged the management of the board to come out with a remodelled developmental  master plan, showing both short and long term development strategy for the region.

According to him “the rate at which the commission execute shady and caricature projects is appalling. It is expected that a commission with billions of naira budget allocation should be capable of embarking on projects with international standard”.

The Iteskiri nation is waiting to get a feedback from the commission to know if they are not qualify to have projects executed in their areas. He added.
