A 48-year-old journalist with the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. Nathaniel Abimbola, and four other members of the Celestial Church of Christ in Osogbo lost their lives during an accident which occurred on Friday at Asejire on the Ibadan-Ife Expressway.
Our correspondent gathered that the 18-seater bus, which the late journalist and others were travelling in, reportedly had a brake failure and rammed into a stationary truck.
Five of them were said to have died on the spot, while those injured were said to have been taken to hospitals in Ikire and Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Meanwhile, the Osun State House of Assembly has described the death of the journalist as a rude shock.
The lawmakers, in a statement on Saturday, condoled with the family of the journalist and other victims in the accident.
In a statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the lawmakers said they were finding it difficult to believe that Abimbola was dead.
