PORT HAR-COURT—A militant group, Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders, NDRC, yesterday, lashed out at the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr Nsima Ekere, for allegedly hobnobbing with a section of ex-militants, saying he was stoking crisis.
Spokesperson of the group, W O I Izon-Ebi, in a statement, said: “The Managing Director, Ekere, is not abreast with the current reality of the Niger Delta, otherwise, he would not be inviting only a group of ex-militants that has been benefiting since 2009, with nothing to show in the Niger Delta, to a meeting, leaving out the current agitators.
“They (ex-militants invited by NDDC) were all asleep during the six -year reign of our own, Dr Goodluck Jonathan. Under their watch, the East-West Road was not completed. Under their watch, the UNEP report was not implemented. Under their watch, the only Maritime University was proposed to be scrapped.
“They kept quiet and connived with the Federal Government to witch hunt the Prince of Egbesu, the only one who can beat his chest to have achieved something for his people.
“The NDDC invited the ex-militants to the NDDC office, lodged them in numerous hotels in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while the law-abiding youths were treated with scorn and disdain. They were not even allowed into the premises of the commission.” through militirasation of the security arrangement of the commission.”
“These acts negate the change mantra of the current administration. What are his reasons for inviting only the ex-militants for a meeting without inviting the current agitators? Is he trying to gather support for his 2019 governorship ambition? Or is he trying to galvanize support for the all Progressives Congress, APC in the Niger Delta region? NDRC queried.
