Over five hundred graves razed as miscreants set fire on Giginya graveyard along western bye-pass in Sokoto North Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The fire, according to a source, miscreants had formed the habit of smoking Indian hemps in the graveyard.
When contacted, Vice President, Nigeria Aids Group of Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Sokoto State branch, Alhaji Abubakar Sulemanu Chilas, also suspected Indian hemp smokers as the most likely cause of the inferno, adding that such incident happened about four years ago.
He condemned the act and called on the suspects to desist from such an act as anyone caught smoking around the graveyard henceforth would be prosecuted.
He lamented that the incident happened after men of the Nigeria Aids Group of the JNI left the graveyard. He said the group visited the graveyard to carry out rehabilitation work at the graveyard on the fateful day.
