An angry crowd of youths yesterday heckled security agents who stormed the Kasuwar Barci market in Tudun Wada Kaduna to enforce the lockdown.

The state government while announcing the lockdown had exempted traders of essential commodities from the lockdown, while others were asked to stay away at home.

Two vehicles carrying the security agents made up of soldiers, police and Civilian JTF had arrived the market along Ibrahim Taiwo road where second-hand clothe sellers (Gwamjo) displayed their wares at about noon, ordering sellers of non-essential items to leave.

“Some of the traders had already started packing their goods when some area boys who were not traders started shouting “karya ne, karya ne” as security agents tried to seize their phones which they were using to record the incident.

“Later on, some of the boys started throwing stones at them, forcing them to leave the market with their vehicles,” he said.

A provision seller, Bello Idris, said: “There was confusion as traders and other shop owners close by started running when the youths were throwing stones,” he said.

It was gathered that one person was whisked away by the security agents.

A KASTLEA marshal who didn’t want his name mentioned said: “Yes, youths pelted the security agents with stones at the market because I can see a lot of stones on the floor.”

Daily Trust gathered that normalcy later returned but some traders closed their shops and left the scene while others remained.
