OPOROZA—THE people of oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, have assured investors from Missouri American Energy, MOAN, who visited the area to explore the possibility of establishing a modular refinery, of adequate security.
Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, Aketekpe Agadagba, gave the assurance when he played host to investors from MOAN, led by its president, Henry Iwenoful, at his palace in Oporoza, headquarters of the riverine kingdom.
“I believe in practicals and not theory. We lack employment and development in this kingdom. Bringing this modular refinery will help our people with employment. Security is guaranteed, I assure you,” he told the investors.
Former chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC and a chief in the kingdom, Chief Wellington Okirika, who is the tour guide and Gbaramatu interface coordinator, told the monarch that he had appraised MOAN, adding: “This is a group of serious minded investors ready to deliver on the project in Gbaramatu.
“In your time and reign, this project is taking place. May your reign bring solution to our problems. All that people have taken from us, may they return to us during your reign,” he prayed.
Okirika, a long standing advocate of modular refinery, noted that the current Federal Government and the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, were interested in the modular refinery project.
Speaking, president of MOAN, Henry Iwenofu, told the Gbaramatu people: “What we are looking at doing is not just building a product, making money and walking away. It is important you build a relationship with the people you are working with. We want you to be partners and not employees.”
Iwenofu promised to improve the lives of the people if they will work with his company as a team, highlighting that youths in the area would be trained on the modular refinery job at full commencement of the project.
