The Nigerian Military says its troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have killed some high ranking commanders of Abubakar Shekau’s faction of the Boko Haram terrorists group.

This was disclosed in a statement issued late Tuesday night by the Nigerian Army via the official Twitter account and Facebook page.

The statement stressed that the death of the commanders followed the sect’s failed attack on troops’ location at  the Banki Junction and Response Area Firgi from the 7 Division Strike Group and the subsequent fierce battle with the terrorists on the 26th of May 2020.

“Credible information from reliable sources have comfirmed the death of some high ranking Commanders of the Abubakar Shekau’s faction of the BH terrorist’ group,” the statement said.

The statement gave the names of the commanders killed during the operation, as Manzar Halid, Amir Abu Fatima and Nicap among several others.

Furthermore, it said, “Reliable information further confirmed the extermination of 72  members of the sect while many others were injured including some high profile Commanders and fighters like Abu Jamratu AL-Naweer, Kaka Bana and Tareta babakari.

“Additionally, a large number of their equipment including many gun trucks, motorcycles and bicycles were equally destroyed by troops in collaboration with the Air Task Force during BHT’s withdrawal in disarray.

“Further credible information indicates BHTs are  in chaos and currently unable to conduct any serious  deliberate offensive action as a result of their recent losses in terms of personnel and equipment.

“The blockade of their spy routes, networks, crossing points and logistic supplies had further crippled the terrorists and heavily limited their freedom of action to the advantage of the federal forces,” the statement concluded.
