The police in Lagos State have arrested eight suspected kidnappers in the Ikorodu area of the state.
Our correspondent learnt that the suspects, from whom two AK-47 rifles were recovered, were arrested in a hotel – De Sholly – in the Gbaga area of Ikorodu.
The eight suspects are Martins Kowei, Lawye Ropo, Pleasure George, Bamidele Blessing, Monday Lucky, Saby Ogandi, Hope Hammed and Monday Uyakumoh.
A police source told our correspondent that the suspects were rounded up around 11am on October 17.
He said, “Upon the information we received on that day that some hoodlums, suspected to be kidnappers and armed robbers, came to lodge at De Sholly Hotel, and planned to kidnap unknown victims, the police from the Area N Command, Ijede, went to the scene and the suspects were arrested.
“The suspects were arrested with a Toyota Camry with number plate, SMK 108 DP. The suspects have given useful information and confessed to robberies in the Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State, as well as in the Lekki area of Lagos State.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the arrest, adding that investigation was ongoing.
