Police in Katsina State on Wednesday said that four persons suspected to be ‘bandits’ were killed while some rifles were also recovered in the state.

Gambo Isa, a Superintendent of Police and police spokesperson in the state disclosed this while addressing journalists on the state of insecurity in the state.

“You will recall that Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force engaged bandits, killed six and recovered one G3 rifle,” Isah said.

“On 1st January, the command successfully carried out a mop up operation at the area and recovered two AK 47 rifles, one LAR rifle, two locally made revolver rifles and 10 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.”

He added that based on top off, the command on January 2 recovered one 1
AK 47 rifle with 32 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition at Pauwa Bushland, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

“In the same vein, on 3/01/2021 at about 03:00hrs, armed robbers attacked the residence of a household at Mahuta village, Kafur LGA of Katsina state but the man courageously overpowered the hoodlums and snatched away one fabricated pistol with two rounds of ammunition from the robbers.”

Katsina State, Northwest has been home to terrorists attacking locals, kidnapping men and women as well as stopping farmers from accessing their farms.

On Friday, December 11, 2020 over 300 students of Government Science Secondary School Kankara were abducted by the terrorists from their school dormitories.

The schoolboys spent about five gruelling nights with the terrorists before the Government secured their release.
