The Niger State Police Command said on Thursday that it had arrested three armed robbers terrorising Lapai and Gurara.
It was gathered that the command’s Special Anti-kidnapping Squad arrested the suspects, Abdullahi Sani, Mohammed Rufai and Jibril Elias in Lapai and Gurara communities, following a tip-off.
The state Commissioner of Police, Zubaru Muazu, confirmed the arrest to Northern City News in his office in Minna, Niger State.
Muazu said the suspects were arrested at different locations in the Lapai and Gurara councils of the state, adding that they confessed to receiving ammunition from one Dan Hajo to carry out their nefarious activities in the areas.
The CP said, “The capture of these hoodlums terrorising Lapai and Gurara would serve as a lesson to those who may have the intention to engage in crime in the future. The police, in collaboration with the military attached to Lapai, also rescued three persons kidnapped by the suspects.”
Muazu added that the operatives rescued the victims whose names were given as Hassan Sani, Adiza Sani and their father, Mallam Sani, from the hands of the three suspected kidnappers.
He appealed to the members of the public to always give credible information that would lead to the arrest of hoodlums who were making life difficult for the people.
Muazu said the command had concluded its investigation, and charged the case to court.
