The Delta police command has again warned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) not to embark on protests in the state.
Police Superintendent, Celestina Kalu, disclosed yesterday that intelligence report indicated IPOB members had planned to stage a protest today.
“The Delta Police Command and its personnel have been fully briefed on the rules of engagement and have been deployed and briefed, to deal ruthlessly with any person or group of persons who attempt to cause a breach of the peace for whatever reason,” Kalu said in a statement.
The Uchenna Madu-led faction of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), however, said protest against the continued incarceration of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and others, would continue.
The Anambra police commands also warned IPOB members to desist from acts that could breach the peace.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Nkeiruka Nwode, in a statement said: “The command is using this medium to warn such elements to retrace their steps and desist from embarking on any act of criminality.”
