A woman and her son, aged about 12, were, yesterday, crushed to death in Bolade area of Oshodi in Lagos, while they were crossing the expressway to the Arena Market.
Onlookers cried as their bodies laid helplessly by the median. Time was 5.30a.m.
It was gathered that the woman was the first to give up the ghost, while her son died few minutes later in a hospital.
Eyewitnesses’ accounts said a commercial bus crushed mother and son.
It was also learned that another commercial driver moved them away from the road, while effort to track down the hit-and-run driver proved abortive.
Men of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, were said to have rushed the boy to a nearby hospital where he died. Both bodies were then laid by the road median for identification.
At press time, no one had come forward to identify the bodies before they were deposited at the morgue by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU.
The woman was said to be in possession of a five-litre keg and hand bag.
