ASABA—NIGERIA Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Delta State Command, has established an outpost in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state, as part of efforts to intensify security alertness in the state.

The Ugoani of Okpanam, HRM Michael Ogbolu, declaring the outpost open, stressed the need for the people to embrace peace and avoid bitterness, urging his subjects to emulate the Nwokobia family, whom he said helped to build the outpost.

In his remark, the state Commandant of NSCDC, Mrs. Beatrice Irabor, noted that the outpost was in line with the SMART agenda of the state government, assuring that the outpost would be used judiciously to ensure effective security of lives and property in the state.

On his part, the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, represented by Mr. Christopher Nwaoboshi, described Okpanam as a peaceful community, reiterating that the outpost would enhance peace and development of the community.

Earlier, Mrs. Esther Nwokobia, said that the outpost was built in remembrance of her late husband, Mr. Alex Nwokobia, whom she said  was a lover of peace who encouraged security in society.
