A heavy fire has torched a filling station, Shirash Petroleum Services Ltd, located in Idu-Koro, a suburb of Abuja, burning parts of the station to ashes.

The cause of the inferno was not yet clear, but some eyewitnesses told LEADERSHIP that the fire incident was caused by a tanker that came to discharge fuel in the filing station.

According to an eyewitness, “The driver of the tanker, according to a source, while coming to discharge fuel in the filing station didn’t know that fuel was leaking from his tanker.  As he was discharging the fuel, the fire that was burning along the leakages followed to the filing station and exploded into heavy conflagration which resulted in razing the tanker along with the pump, among others to ashes.”

Though men of fire service couldn’t come in time, may be due to distance and the heavy traffic along Karmo road, since that day was Tuesday market in Karmo, but our reporter gathered that when they finally arrived the scene, they were only able to secure the office building of the filing station and other buildings within the area from the inferno.

No death was recorded from the incident, but a staff was said to have sustained injury and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
