About 800 people were displaced and nine other abducted in four-day attacks by bandits on communities in Rafi and Shiroro Local Government Areas of Niger State.

Majority of those displaced are current in a temporary camp at Kagara village in Rafi Local Government Area.

Youths in the area yesterday took to the streets, blocking the Tegina-Birinin-Gwari-Kaduna Road in protest against the incessant attacks in the area within the last one month.

Bandits had on Monday attacked Kukoki village in Shiroro Local Government Area, displacing over 200 people, mostly women and children.

They had earlier on Sunday attacked Kusherki community in Rafi LGA where they killed one person and kidnapped three others.

On Tuesday, the bandits attacked Rafin-Wayam, Rafin-Kwakwa and Dogon-Gurgu in Rafi Local Government Area and kidnapped six people.
