The Police in Kebbi state have arrested six persons suspected to have killed one Alhaji Haliru Ahmed and kidnapped the wife of a local government chairman in Bunza local government area.
It would be recalled that armed bandits invaded Sogirma village in Bunza local government area in July killed Alhaji Halliru, shot the wife of the council chairman and abducted her.
Briefing journalists in his office the Police Commissioner, Garba Muhammed Danjuma, said one Muhammadu Danbanganna living in Bunza community allegedly conspired with five others to invade the residence of the council chairman and kidnapped his wife, Aisha Bello after killing Alhaji Haliru Ahmed aged 65 years.
“When we heard of the incident the Operation Puff Adder personnel attached to Bunza town and members of the vigilante group on a joint patrol pursued the hoodlums to their hideouts and after a gun duel with the police they were overpowered and the victims were rescued with bullet wounds.”
“The hoodlums fled to different locations but the SARS operatives had arrested six of them,” he said.
The commissioner said efforts were on to apprehend the two other fleeing suspects.
“Those arrested will be formally arraigned in court”, he said.
